Hair waxing methods have certainly changed over the years, just like anything else that can be improved upon, including ways of removing hair, in general. For example, since even as far back as ancient Egypt, where women had to follow the queen with having to remove all body hair (as it was the standard for beauty back then), a method called “sugaring” (made from a combination of honey and oil) was used as well as depilatory creams created for the job. Waxing itself started in ancient Rome, with resin from trees pitch used as the main ingredients. No matter when it was utilized, the same idea seemed to stick (no pun intended!) through the ages up through the sixteenth century, when it was banned in France, and other nations followed suit.
It’s interesting how, in even today’s fashion world, France is still on the cutting edge of fashion, where others follow suit. Waxing came alive in the 1960’s, when the bikini came into fashion. And yes, France was the foremother of bikinis, when the first ones showed up on her beaches, outrageously, in the year 1947. Since then, women and men everywhere have utilized waxing techniques to remove hair from specific parts of the body. Let’s look at the areas of the body that can be waxed, the methods used to perform the waxing, and any special instructions that go along with each section.
Face – No, women do not necessarily have the 5’oclock shadow going on, but depending on genes and age, hair will show up on the upper life, the chin and sides of the face and in great amounts, too.
Eyebrows – Another trick of genetics; some women experience a “uni-brow”, or excess hair growth between the eyebrows. This can be helped by waxing.
Underarms – Typically in North America, women have traditionally kept their armpits free of hair. Some still prefer the “Euro” look of natural hair growth. It’s all a matter of preference.
Legs/Feet - We’re mentioning them both here, if only because legs traditionally are shaven in North America, and sometimes the tops of the feet, if there are open toe shoes or sandals hanging in the balance.
Bikini Line – This is traditionally done for those who wear bikinis or at least need to have hair removed prior to donning any kind of bathing suit. As long as there is at least ¼ of an inch that has grown out, a salon will perform this for you, and as gently as possible.
The Brazilian – Yes, this is done for women, too! Of course they do not have the genitals men do, but the outer labia and surrounding area (even the very back, between the buttocks!) is treated as gently as is possible and for maximum results. Salons that do this must adhere to strict health codes, in order to avoid infection.
The methods that salons and day spas use can be similar to that of the home-use packages. However, sometimes they will have special equipment that will ease in both the application of the wax and subsequent removal. Additionally, that there is preconditioning performed, which is special type of lotion applied to the skin prior to the waxing since it will help open the pores a bit for the best results, is something to consider, since this type of item is not available to consumers at this time.
And there you have it! Now,you know what parts of the body are waxed on both sexes, which are pretty much the same with the exception of the chest and back. Some women might, indeed, have chest or back hair that they want to remove, so we are just informing you as to what the average person will do for waxing. It is always advised that you try waxing at a salon prior to attempting to do it yourself, since you will both see how it is properly done and you will also see if you have a bad reaction, such as blistering or burning from the wax application. Some people really are allergic to it, so please bear this in mind.

How To Underarm Hair Removal
Posted by: admin
August 3rd, 2011 >> Hair Removal, Underarm Hair Removal
There are many different ways to remove underarm hair. Underarm hair may be shaved, waxed, or chemically sloughed off. Laser and electrolysis hair removal options exist as well. You could even remove underarm hair by plucking it.
Shaving is a temporary method for removing underarm hair. This method involves snipping hair off at the skin’s surface. When you remove underarm hair by shaving, it tends to grow back rather quickly, requiring you to shave new growth all over again. There are many different types of razors or shavers on the market, including electric shavers. Some people prefer electric razors because they eliminate the risk of being nicked or cut.
Waxing is another popular method used to remove underarm hair. With this method, warm wax is spread over the underarm area. As the wax cools, underarm hair becomes implanted in it. Once the wax is cooled, it is pulled off very quickly, moving away from the direction of natural hair growth. This motion pulls hair out of the follicles. Fleeting discomfort may be felt when the wax is removed from the skin.
Plucking is another possibility for removing underarm hair. This method involves pulling the hair out with tweezers. In order to remove underarm hair in this manner, the hair must be long enough to grab and hold with tweezers. Generally speaking, this method of hair removal is not very practical for the underarms, as it takes a long time to accomplish. Furthermore, many people find plucking in the sensitive underarm area uncomfortable.
Some people choose to remove underarm hair by using depilatories. Depilatories are chemicals designed to dissolve unwanted hair. Typically available in cream, spray, or liquid form, a depilatory is spread or sprayed on the underarm area and allowed to sit for a period of time. Once it has done its job, usually in less than 15 minutes, it is wiped or rinsed off, leaving hairless skin behind. Sometimes, depilatories can cause skin irritation.
Electrolysis may also be used to remove underarm hair. Electrolysis uses an electric current to destroy the hair follicle. This method removes hair permanently, but may require several treatments, as hair follicles may survive the first try. Electrolysis is time-consuming, as it is necessary to treat each hair follicle separately.
Laser hair removal is another method used to remove underarm hair. This method is not permanent, but is considered long lasting. It involves using beams of light to destroy the hair in a follicle. Serious complications can occur with laser hair removal, but are rare.

Are you looking to get rid of unwanted hair? You are not alone, in fact more and more men are every day getting interested in body hair removal. There are many options to get rid of unwanted hair, and shaving is of them.
Before you engage into your shaving ritual know these first two things: It is probable that your skin will irritate the first few times you shave. When the hair starts growing back it will itch.
Remember that shaving your body hair is like shaving your face, and because of this, you’ll have to take the same steps toward its care:
Clean the area to be shaved.
Take a hot water bat to soften the hair
Use a quality shaving cream.
Moisturize the shaved are and use a toning lotion.
Tips for Male Body Shaving
Over time I have found some great tips that are very useful when you want to start shaving your body hair. This is what has worked for me:
Use a razor blade that has a few uses. I find it difficult to shave my legs and forearms without ending up with tiny cuts.
Don’t shave the same area until the redness goes away. You can infect your skin this way.
Wait until the skin is fully healed and shave again.
Treat your body’s skin like your face’s skin. The skin is the largest organ and it has to be taken care of in every place.
Wear non-irritating clothes. I like to use cotton.
I personally prefer using shaving gels than foam creams. They are less messy. Take your time. Don’t hurry when shaving.
Trim Your Hair Before You Shave It
Too many people skip the step of trimming body hair before actually shaving it, but it is very important.
Trimming your hair on one hand will make shaving much, much easier. When you have long body hair, the hair will get stuck in the razor blade, clogging it, and only allowing you to shave a very tiny portion of your skin. On the other hand, trimming the hair will leave you less possibilities of damage or cuts, simply because the blade is not pulling the hair.
How to trim your body hair?
I personally use the Bodygroom, a shaver made specially for body hair. It is very nice, but you have to use it with patience in order to get the most out of it. You can use it even in the shower. However if you don’t have a tool like this, you can use scissors. Though it takes more time. Use scissors with care, I’d recommend round cornered scissors, as they are safer.

Laser Hair Removal Cost Get What You Pay For
Posted by: admin
August 3rd, 2011 >> Hair Removal, Laser Hair Removal

When deciding if a laser hair removal procedure is the right route for you, one of the most important factors to consider is price. But, this is not as easy to consider as it may seem. To calculate price, a lot of other information is required, ranging from how thick the hair follicle is to the age of the patient to what type of equipment the clinic uses. Fluctuating prices make it almost impossible to accurately estimate, so it is important that you take the time to request a quote online or over the phone from a trustworthy clinic.
Another factor that goes along with the price is how many treatments it will take before the desired result is achieved. However, this is also difficult to calculate. For some people, a few treatments will do the trick, yet some need up to twelve, despite each session continually eliminating hair and hair growth. Laser hair treatment is a unique process because it targets each hair follicle, not the hair. This means that you do not have to wait to grow the hair, like in waxing. A good clinic will give a lifetime guarantee (get it in writing!), treat pesky hair that may grow back for free, and offer suitable payment options. The price may seem like a steep investment at first, but over time, it will truly pay itself off. Compared to waxing and shaving, it is a far superior and cheaper option.
As mentioned earlier, prices are constantly fluctuating. Cheaper equipment has been made available recently, which drives the price of clinical removal costs down. Also, home laser hair removal systems have entered the market and caused clinical laser hair removal costs to be lowered to compete.
The type of equipment is also an important thing to note. Not only does this affect the cost, but it can also affect the result given. For example, some lasers are better suited for different tones of skin. Additionally, most lasers work best for darker hair since the laser targets melanin (the pigment in skin), but technology is constantly advancing and should soon work better for red, gray, and other lighter colored hairs.
Keeping all of these factors in mind when you shop around is crucial. You should always be informed and ask questions because you can never have too much information when it comes to a decision like this. Ask about special packages at various different places, whether it be via the internet or phone. Contacting different places is a key thing to do because it can save you a lot of money. Make sure to keep track of which deals go along with which clinics so you can easily compare your findings. Also, several places offer discounts when you sign up for more than one treatment.

. Make sure that the blade of the razor meets your skin at ~45 degrees or less. Nicks and cuts happen when the blade is held at too large of an angle against your skin. It should glide over your skin and you shouldn’t be able to feel it.
. The path of the blade should be straight, with the the edge of the blade kept perpendicular to its path. Because the blade is sharp, moving the blade with the edge parallel to the skin [even slightly] will allow the edge to get under the skin and slice or nick it.
. Some men prefer washing their faces and even shaving while in the shower. The steam from the shower helps prepare the face and beard, and the force of the shower rinsing your face after shaving soothes any minor nicks that might happen. Experiment with this to see if it results in a closer shave, although not having a mirror available may be a handicap.
. Razor burn can be easily prevented if the very last strokes on your face with the razor are with the grain, not against it. The strokes of the razor blade actually change the way your pores will grow the new hair. As such, you want to be sure to “reset” the grain of your beard by ensuring the last strokes are with the grain, or top to bottom.
. For many with sensitive skin, an electric razor is the best option.
. If you have acne and need to shave an area, try both an electric and a safety razor to see which is more comfortable. When using a safety razor, soften the hair with warm soap and water and then shave as lightly as possible. Always start with a sharp blade.
. For an extra thick beard you can use a warm face cloth compress to soften it in addition to a warm shower prior to shaving. Change blades as necessary, as they will dull much quicker than with a thin beard.
. A blade that has been used a couple of times is a little more gentle on the face than a brand new one. It’s easy to apply too much pressure and a sharper blade will cut the skin more readily than one that is slightly used. If you are breaking in a new razor, be especially careful.
. Shave often, perhaps once every couple days to keep your hairs from thickening and establishing. The more consistently you shave, the better the quality of your shaves will be, and the better your complexion: Shaving removes dead skin and keeps pores from clogging, especially if you practice good hygiene after shaving.
. Individuals who get shaving bumps can use specially designed razors, typically marketed to men with African texture hair. The key is for the razor not to cut too closely, such that the hair does not fail to emerge from the skin as it grows. Use of a pre-shave, liquid or talc, and a post-shave treatment for shaving bumps also can help.
. Some individuals will find that a sharp straight razor (standard issue) and just hot water running over the face, i.e. in a shower, can get a significantly better shave using no soap, oil or shaving creams.

Cost of Electrolysis Hair Removal Treatment
Posted by: admin
August 3rd, 2011 >> Electrolysis, Hair Removal

Electrolysis costs between $50 and $150 an hour with significant variations between cities, regions and countries. Most salons charge in minimum increments of 10 minutes or so of treatment. This is quite useful in reducing costs when you get to the end of your course of treatment and require just a few hairs to be removed.
Even at the beginning of a course of treatment, unwanted hair from a small area such as the upper lip can be treated in about 15 minutes whereas a larger area such as the back or legs would take much longer – maybe an hour or more.
As the treatment may have to be repeated many times to ensure that all the hairs have been permanently removed you need to factor into the cost the number of electrolysis treatments you will need and unfortunately this is almost impossible to predict. You may find you need just a few sessions to deal with your excess hair or you may need (as I did) to make regular visits to the electrologist for over a year to achieve permanent hair removal.
If you want to go for electrolysis it is probably safer to ensure that you either have a very flexible budget or you can finance your hair removal treatments each month from the money you have within that month – then it’s just like a regular appointment at the beautician for a waxing or other beauty treatment. And, in fact, electrolysis costs no more than many beauty treatments you might pay for but this one has permanent results!
In some circumstances, however, it may feel it is better to go for laser treatment especially for removing hair from larger areas of your body if it works out as a more affordable (and less time consuming) option for you, at least in the short term.
You really have to weigh up the benefits of achieving permanent removal of excess hair against the cost and time factor when looking at the price of electrolysis versus the price of laser hair removal because you are not comparing like results. Lasers have only been shown to achieve permanent hair reduction and not removal so you will need ongoing maintenance treatments with laser hair removal which are expensive on an ongoing basis.

People are always concerned about their appearance, therefore they are always shaving, waxing and tweezing. These methods are traditional and take a lot of time and can be frustrating particularly for body hair removal. Whether it be body hair removal on the back, chest or wherever, you want your body hair removal treatment to be effective and fast.
By far the best way to keep your body hair well groomed and looking clean and cut is by using a hair removal cream. But why do hair removal creams work? When you apply the hair removal cream to your skin, the ingredients in the cream react with the proteins in your skin, specifically the root of the hair. Using a hair removal cream is easily the most cost effective and least time consuming method available.
There are many advantages of using a hair removal cream for body hair removal. To start with they are the easiest and least frustrating method. The individual can use the cream at their own discretion, allowing you to make your own decisions to when you use the cream. Usually creams only have to be used every 3 week, but this is up to the individual. The more regularly you use your hair removal cream the finer and slower the hair grows back making it more manageable.
There are numerous other treatments for body hair removal. Such as laser and electrolysis, and they work pretty well. The down side to these treatments is that they cost a small fortune. Unfortunately they can’t match up to the cost effectiveness of a hair removal cream.
Hair removal creams are becoming amazingly popular due to their cost and effectiveness. But which one is the best cream, the best cream is from Revitol. Their cream is rated as the number one hair removal on market. Why is their cream so successful? It’s simple, it works. When it comes down to it people want a product that works, a product that does what it claims. Their customer service and prices is also a major contributor to their success.

The bikini line often presents one of the largest challenges for the elimination of unwanted hair. Intense Pulsed Light hair removal, also known as IPL, is one of the best solutions for this problem area. Those who are interested in IPL should investigate it thoroughly and consult with a doctor who specializes in hair removal before making their decision.
History
Although mankind has pursued the removal of unwanted hair on all parts of the body for centuries, IPL treatments were not introduced until the early 2000s. A few years after the original introduction of the treatment, doctors started to use IPL specifically in the bikini area to remove unwanted hair. Since then, the technology has advanced, and today it is one of the most reliable means of hair removal.
Function
IPL therapies, also referred to as photofacial treatments, utilize selective photothermolysis to destroy unwanted hair follicles. The light created by the IPL instruments focuses extreme amounts of heat on the unwanted hair, essentially burning them out. The process takes anywhere from a few moments to a few hours, depending on the size of the area and the exact technique that a doctor chooses to use.
Benefits
IPL hair removal techniques are a constantly growing tool in the hair removal market. IPL is a well-proven method, and many people are fans of the treatments. Proponents of the therapies generally cite the lower cost of the treatment as one of its foremost benefits. However, this cut in costs may come with a cut in the quality of the treatment.
Warnings
Critics of IPL treatments cite the fact that IPL utilizes a larger ray of light than laser technologies, meaning that IPL treatments may be less controlled than the laser alternatives when it comes to hair removal. This imprecision of treatments may lead to burns and lesions, which will be especially uncomfortable in the bikini area.
Considerations
Patients choosing IPL for eliminating bikini area hair should choose a reputable doctor and discuss the treatment ahead of time. Patients should ask about a doctor’s record, and inquire about the possibility of discussing the treatments with another of the doctor’s patients. Cost should also be taken into consideration; while IPL treatments may be cheaper than alternatives, a bikini area hair removal can run up to several hundred dollars at a more expensive provider and will probably not be covered by insurance.

You have several options when it comes to body hair removal, including depilatory creams. Such creams dissolve your hair so that it can be quickly rinsed or wiped away, reports Barnard College at Columbia University. Unlike shaving with a traditional razor, the end result is smooth and doesn’t leave stubble. For the best results, choose a depilatory treatment that’s been recommended by beauty experts.
Veet In-Shower Hair Removal Cream
Veet’s in-shower depilatory cream comes recommended by “Shape” magazine. The magazine raves about its water-proof formulation; you can apply it while bathing. After the cream has done its work, you simply wipe it away with the included application and removal sponge. The magazine also liked the cream’s almost complete lack of irritating odors, which were once a major drawback of depilatory treatments.
Veet Suprem’Essence
The beauty editors of “Allure” magazine praise Veet’s spray-on cream, specifically noting that it works as one of the best shaving alternatives for “lazy girls.” The magazine also loved the cream’s pleasant scent. It dissolves the hair within six minutes for quick and convenient hair removal. The manufacturer also includes essential oils to help moisturize your skin.
Nair Shower Power Exfoliating With Skin Renewal Micro-Beads
Nair’s exfoliating depilatory cream was ranked by “Shape” magazine’s beauty editors as the best depilatory on the market. It combines depilatory chemicals with exfoliating micro-beads. As the chemicals dissolve your unwanted hair, the micro-beads massage the skin’s surface to slough off dead skin cells. The combined result is a smoother, softer skin appearance and feel. Additional beneficial ingredients include peach kernel oil and moisturizing mineral oil.
Veet Spray-On Hair Removal Cream
“Cosmopolitan” magazine’s editors recommend Veet’s cream as the “one to try.” It comes in a standard formulation, plus a sensitive skin formula and a dry skin formula. The sensitive skin version includes extra skin soothers, while the dry skin version adds additional emollients to hydrate your skin. It’s designed to be applied without using your hands for a no-mess removal process.
